Theories of motivation • Drive reduction theory talks about fulfilling the drive which reinforces learning. • Homeostatic drive theory focuses on maintaining balance in the body. • Cognitive theory talks about motivation related to cognitions. • Maslow’s hierarchy focuses on biological and physiological needs.

  3. Motivation is the inner impelling force which pushes an individual to fulfill the drive. Motivation refers to all the prods and pushes which urges a person to complete biological, psychological and social needs.

  4. Types of motivation • There are different types of motivations: • Intrinsic motivation • Extrinsic motivation • Biological motives • Psychological motives • Social motives

  5. Conclusion • People who have high self-esteem tends to be more motivated as compare to those low in self-esteem. • People who needs social approval are more motivated. • People high in self- actualization have high levels of motivation.
