Be of merchantable quality Goods are of merchant quality if they are fit for the purpose or purposes for which goods of that kind are commonly bought and are as durable as it is reasonable to expect having regard to any description applied to them.   4. Fulfil a specific purpose • When a buyer asks for goods for a specific purpose, then the goods should fulfill that purpose. Illegal notices It is illegal to put up notices, make statements or sell goods in containers stating that goods will not be exchanged, that money will not be refunded, or that only credit notes will be given in exchange for goods returned.
