Jesus takes pity on crowd (not irritated by them) as they are desperate for guidance - he teaches them for many hours. He “feeds” them on his teaching- they are hungry for truth. Jesus takes, blesses, breaks & hands out food - it feeds, strengthens & satisfies the people, just like the Eucharist feeds, strengthens & satisifies us spiritually by Jesus’ body. Importance of the Story • Jesus recognised & responded to physical needs.
