Task A R E Y O U R E A D Y ? Your mission, if you choose to accept it, will be to complete the Amazing Race around the world. This race will cover a total of 9 countries . Upon arriving at each country via Google Earth, you and your teammate will be given a clue that will lead you to a famous location. At this location, you will be given a task to complete. You must complete each task before traveling to a new country. You must complete your tasks in your Task Notebook. Have fun and good luck!!! Yes!
Welcome to England! • Welcome to London, England! Arrive at Big Ben via Google Earth. Take a Double-Decker bus tour to view the famous attractions of the city. While on the Double-Decker bus, list and describe 3 important attractions and their significance to the city of London or to the world in your Task Notebook. If you have extra time before your next flight, try calling home from a London phone booth, or try some traditional Fish ‘n Chips in a cozy restaurant! Next Clue!
Welcome to France! • Welcome to Paris, France! Arrive at the Eiffel Tower via Google Earth. Take a taxi through town to the famous attraction site, the Louvre Museum. Inside, take a tour. Then list and describe 3 important works of art and their significance to the city of Paris or to the world in your Task Notebook. If you have extra time before your next flight, visit Notre Dam or walk the Champs de Elysees. See the sights from atop the Eiffel Tower! Visit the Arc de Triomphe! Welcome to Italy! • Welcome to Rome, Italy! Arrive at the historic Coliseum via Google Earth. Drive a moped to Vatican City. Find your way to the Sistine Chapel. After viewing the masterpieces in the chapel, pick 3 paintings and describe them in your Task Notebook. Who painted them and why are they important? What do the paintings mean and why are they significant to Italy? If you have time before your next flight, try some Italian pizza or spaghetti! Welcome to Egypt! • Welcome to Giza, Egypt! Arrive at the Sphinx via Google Earth. Take a camel trek from the Sphinx to the Great Pyramids. After circling the three pyramids, climb inside the Great Pyramid. Once inside, look on the pyramid walls for hieroglyphics. Complete your own cartouche by writing your own name in hieroglyphs in your Task Notebook. If you have time before your next flight, visit either a Papyrus or Perfume Factory. Welcome to Tanzania! • Welcome toTanzania, Africa! Arrive in Tanzania via Google Earth. You have reached a Detour! A Detour is a choice between 2 tasks. Choose to take an African Safari Ride OR travel in a Hot Air Balloon over the wildlife. On either task look for wild animals of the Animal Kingdom. Choose 3 animals and describe them in your Task Notebook. What role do they play in the Animal Kingdom? If you have time before your next flight, climb Mt. Kilimanjaro or play drums with the natives! • Welcome to London, England! Arrive at Big Ben via Google Earth. Take a Double-Decker bus to the famous attraction site, the London Eye. Purchase a ticket for the ride. While on the Eye, list and describe 3 important buildings and their significance to the city of London or to the world. Welcome to Peru! • Welcome to Nazca, Peru! Arrive at Machu Picchu via Google Earth. Depart, taking a helicopter ride to view the Nazca Lines. Your task is to draw your favorite Nazca Line design. Write down how you think these signs came to be in your Task Notebook. Did aliens create these lines? If you have extra time before your next flight, try paragliding or climbing the Andes Mountains! Walk along the Inca Path back to explore the ancient and mysterious ruins of Machu Picchu! • Next Clue!
Welcome to India! • Welcome to Agra, India! Arrive at the Taj Mahal via Google Earth. A Roadblock is a task that only ONE team member may perform. One team member must attend a traditional Mumbai wedding. After the wedding, the team member must design his/her own henna tattoo with a specific purpose. Henna designs must be completed in Task Notebook, along with the significance of your henna design. If you have time before your next flight, take a tour of the Taj Mahal! • Next Clue!
Welcome to China! • Welcome to Beijing, China! Arrive at the Great Wall of China via Google Earth. A Roadblock is a task that only ONE team member may perform. The team member that completed the last roadblock may not do this one. Calculate your Chinese Animal sign. List both a quality of your sign and your influential element in your Task Notebook, If you have time before your next flight, visit a Chinese Tea House. Don’t forget to buy a fortune cookie! • Next Clue!
Welcome to Australia! • Welcome to Sydney, Australia! Arrive at the Sydney Opera House via Google Earth. Then, take a taxi cab to Cairn, home to the Great Barrier Reef. Take a dive into the Great Barrier Reef! After you are done scuba diving, draw 3 animals that you saw on your dive. Describe them in your Task Notebook. If you have extra time before your next flight, either visit a tropical rainforest and play with monkeys or make friends with some local kangaroos! Remember to use an Aussie accent! • Next!

Goals! • Students will learn about different cultures throughout the world by completing tasks related to each culture. • Students will use technology such as Google Earth, YouTube, and Internet sources to transport themselves from country to country.
