  2. EKON = ECOLOGY + PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES • social enterprise • established in 2003 • creates workplaces for persons with disabilities under sheltered and in open stream employment • acts in favour of social integration – counteracts social exclusion.

IN THE LAND OF ACCEPTANCE • pioneer project on a national scale • 44 coordinators of employmentsearch for workplaces and supportpeople with disabilities to get and secure the job • over 900 jobplacements of persons with disabilities, including nearly100 persons with mental and intellectualimpairments

  4. IN THE LAND OF ACCEPTANCE • over 800 of checkout assistants, sales representatives, warehousemen, accountants, trained by EKON coordinators and placed at work in supermarkets • on and off job suport during whole emloyment contract

  5. IN THE LAND OF ACCEPTANCE • success story of cooperationbetween EKON and privatesector • socialinclusion and integration • other mutual projects with Carrefour (150 persons in environment sector, STOP WASTE) • CSR

  6. ECO WORK • sheltered work on collecting recyclables in the sorting plant • work for over 300 persons with disabilities/ over 250 persons with mental and intellectual impairments

  7. ECO WORK • EKON “Ants” collect waste directly from the door • advantages of the method

  8. ECO WORK • at sorting plant packaging waste is separated into recyclable material segments prepared for recycling • EKON staff separate approx. 300 tonnes of packaging waste per month, recovering over 90% of recyclables

  9. ECOLOGICAL EDUCATION • raising the ecological awareness of Warsaw inhabitants • teaching the principles of separating waste in households • EKON staff - ambassadors of environment protection

  10. FINANCING THE ACTIVITY • EKON – non-for-profit, but not non-profit • EKON – self-financing, market enterprise • No grants, EU-projects, donations, etc

  11. AWARDS AND SOCIAL RECOGNITION • winner of many awards and distinctions • nomination for ”Company of the Year 2012”, European Diversity Awards • main PFRON 2005 award for the ECO WORK project
