2. Transparent and accurate data is essential for parents to understand and monitor the performance of their child and their school. For the first time ever in Australia, the public can go to a single website and find easy-to-read information about all schools in Victoria. Victoria has also released an annual school performance summary for each Victorian government school. Government School Performance Summaries • Gives schools and parents a balanced account of the overall results of our students and how our school compares with other Victorian government schools, taking into account their student intakes. • Summarises our achievements and plans for the future • Sharing this information helps to identify what we are doing well and where we need to improve

What’s included • student outcome data – the “raw” data, already available in our school’s Annual Report • the latest school year and • the last four years (where available) • school comparison data • identifies whether a school, taking into account its students, is performing higher than, lower than, or broadly similar to other schools, taking into account their students.

Student outcomes – primary • Student learning • Teacher assessments from the Victorian Essentials Learning Standards (the basis of our school curriculum) • Average score achieved on the NAPLAN reading and numeracy tests conducted nationally in May each year at Year 3 and Year 5 • Student Engagement • Student attendance • Student attitudes to school

Student outcomes – secondary • Student learning • Teacher assessments from the Victorian Essentials Learning Standards (the basis of our school curriculum) • Average score achieved on the NAPLAN reading and numeracy tests conducted nationally in May each year at Year 7 and Year 9 • Student Engagement • Student attendance • Student attitudes to school • Student Pathways and Transitions • Percentage of year 7 students remaining at school to Year 10 • Percentage of students from Years 10 to 12 going on to further studies or full-time employment

7. School comparison • Alongside the raw data, we have introduced a new, fairer way of comparing school performance. • It takes into account the context of each school, including: • socio-economic background of students, the number of Indigenous students, the number of non-English speaking and refugee students, the number of students with a disability and the size and location of the schools • After taking account of these characteristics, we end up with an estimate of the difference our school is making in improving results for our students.
