What Is CFNC? 501(c)(3) nonprofit -administers grants, loans and savings program on behalf of the state State-funded K-16 partnership (NCDPI, NCCCS, NCICU, UNC) administered by UNC General Administration State agency responsible for statewide college aid programs – grants scholarships, loans, 529 savings
Primary Goal = Access GOAL To increase the college-going rate in North Carolina with particular attention toward “first-generation” college students. Two obstacles facing first-generation college students: (1) Can I really go to college in NC? (2) Can I afford to go to college?

CFNC Electronic High School Transcript SystemOverview • 452 NC WISE high/charter schools currently participating http://www1.cfnc.org/ExternalScripts/My_CFNC/transcripts.asp • All Wake county public schools added in October 2009 • Charlotte-Mecklenburg and Guilford County are currently exploring future participation • 110 participating NC colleges & universities • NC School of Science and Math

CFNC Electronic High School Transcript System How It Works (Student) • Transcript Manager can • be used to track • transcript activity • Current -> processed immediately and arrive within 2-4 business days • Final -> processed automatically at end of school year after diploma issue date is posted • * Final grades should be posted before diploma issue date
CFNC Electronic High School Transcript System How It Works (Counselor) • NEW CFNC Professional Center – available June 2010 • Allows counselors to view student’s transcript activity • Professional Center accounts have to be set up on a request basis and a Professional Account Access Key (PAAK) is required to create an account • send an email to cfnc@northcarolina.edu, subject line “PAAK account” • Include First & Last Name, Title, Grades Served, HS Name, HS Address (including county), School phone #, Email Address • An instruction manual and PAAK will be emailed within 5-7 business days • Students must select their current high school in Your Profile before counselors can view the status

CFNC College Redirection Pool • Purpose: To assist students who have been denied admission from the institution of their choice and are seeking opportunities to pursue Higher Education in the fall. • Goal: For every student in the College Redirection Pool to be contacted by at least one college or university. • Participation History: In six years, over 4,000 students have participated in the College Redirection Pool. • Dates Available: April 1 – August 31 • How to Register: Beginning April 1st, students can log into CFNC.org, select the College Redirection link on the home page and complete the registration form. • What to expect: Students who participate will receive emails, packets of information, etc from campuses who have space available for the fall.
