Security • Sometimes conflicts occur throughout the world due to the geography of a location • By examining the geography of areas, we can examine the factors that lead to conflict, find solutions to current conflict and possibly prevent future conflicts
The Environment • Studying natural hazards (like the potential for a hurricane or earthquake) can help lessen the effects of a natural disaster on people at risk • Help us plan for recovery after a natural disaster • Make laws and rules that will control pollution and lessen the effects of pollution
Understanding the World • People identify with one another through culture • Learning about various cultures helps to improve interactions between people from all over the world
