  3. Boat to KohLipe KoLipe (sometimes spelled KohLipe) is outside of the jurisdiction of Tarutao National Park, and as such is exempt from certain laws prohibiting development. It is surrounded by uninhabited islands of the Butong Archipelago. The island is home to about 500 Chao Ley, or Sea Gypsies, who were given a grant to half of the island and live in small villages, predominantly around the far east side of the island near Sunrise Beach. The name "KoLipe" means "Paper Island" in the local Chao Ley language. The huge tourism business of KoLipe results in water shortages, waste disposal issues, and other environmental problems.

  4. Ferry Destination : Kohkradan KohKradan is the southernmost of the 3 Trang islands, and perhaps the most-visited. On weekends Thai tour boats often appear at Kradan, some carrying dozens of students or company workers all in bright red life vests, for few Thais from non-coastal areas can swim (see our beach photos). Guests play on the island's beautiful East coast beach. There is a coral reef a little way out, also, which is ideal for snorkelling. KohKradan has the second largest number of beachfront hotels, with all 5 establishments right on the beach, generally 2-star budget.

KlongJilad ferry terminal is located about 5 minutes taxi ride from the famous Thara Park and river walkway. Beautifully maintained by the local provincial Government, you'll find the boarding process easy enough, leaving you to enjoy the journey. and full safety precautions.  Krabi Town Ao Nang (sometimes known as "AoPhra Nang", a name the Tourist Authority of Thailand devised some years back, but which never really caught on) is the most "westernized" beach in Krabi.
