  4. Two important events • 1. Berthelot was accused of embezzlement and was forced to flee the castle. • 2. The castle was purchased by the French government in 1628

  5. Two important people • 1. Francois I (King of France at this time) • 2. Gilles Berthelot (Founder of this chateau)

  6. Personal Opinion • In my opinion this chateau is better than the other castles in the Loire valley. I would live here because this castle is very flashy and I could show my friends the detail on my chateau!

  7. Personal Opinion (Cont’d) • This chateau is complemented by the landscape of the Loire valley and even though it is many years old, Azay le Rideau still remains beautiful.
