  2. Information about the Azay • The chateau was built from 1515-1527 • The chateau was built for Gilles Berthelot’s wife Phillipa Lesbahy. • It was built for his wife’s inheritance; the property was already there.

  3. Three Unique features of the chateau • It’s built on an island, the foundations rise out of the water. • The first to have a central staircase. • The center for wine

  4. Two important events: • Berthelot was suspected of embezzlement and was forced to leave the chateau. • In the early 20th century, the French government claims the chateau.

  5. My opinion of the chateau • I love the fact that the chateau is on an island. It amazes me as to how the construction was done in order for it to be built on the water back then. It is also very beautiful on the outside and the inside.

  7. Personal Interest 1 • This chateau has amazing architecture that is alluring to the eye when you first see it. I would love to live here because it is somewhat hidden and I like my privacy.

  8. Personal Interest 2 • It’s very interesting on the inside, it has a room that you can play pool in or other things. The fact that it rises out of the water amazes me and I would love to take my kids here some day!!
