  2. Our Core Purpose: Inspiring the future, global workforce to engage in the prevention of corrosion through Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education and programs

  3. Our History: Founded as an Endowment Committee within NACE under the Presidency of Walter Poff 2019 1986 • 2002 Transformed into the NACE International Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization

  4. NACE Foundation PROGRAMS The NACE Foundation administers targeted programs to provide specific experiences for specific audiences • High school students • Introduce STEM-related education and programs with c-Kits (Corrosion Toolkits) • Corrosion Mini-camp • University students • Support students involved in corrosion-related fields of study via scholarships • Provide travel assistance to students presenting posters at the NACE Annual Conference • Veterans • Support veterans with education, certification, and mentoring

PROGRAM: cKits & American Society of Materials (ASM) Camps • cKits created by NACE Foundation in 2005 • Created for high school students • Features a series of corrosion-based experiments that give students practical, hands-on experience with real-life corrosion problems “Wow!   6. cKits & ASM Camps …CONTINUED Primary distribution of cKits is through ASM Teacher Materials Camps, held during summer months • Week-long camp FREE to teachers • Approx. 1,000 cKits distributed annually to camps • Approx. 45 camps each summer across the US and Canada • 25-30 high school teachers/camp • 2 ASM-trained Master Teachers

PROGRAM: Corrosion Mini-Camp • Takes place in conjunction with NACE’s Annual Conference • 50-60 local high school students from the host site city • Two Master Teachers oversee the experiments • Students conduct a series of 3 experiments from cKit • University student volunteers assist with experiments, tours • Tour of Exhibit Hall (Virtual Spray Booth, CP Field, Exhibitor Booths, Student Poster Session, NACE Booth) • Guest speakers during lunch discussing careers in corrosion

PROGRAM: Graduate & Undergraduate Scholarships • In 2018, the NACE Foundation awarded more than $144,000 to 35 students during a Scholarship Awards Ceremony held during NACE’s Annual Conference • Scholarship cycle runs annually, Sep. – Jan. • 2020 scholarships will be posted on the Foundation web site September 1 “Thank you to the NACE Foundation and Materials Technology Institute for the MTI Bert Krisher Memorial Scholarship to help me pursue my dream of being a metallurgist and encouraging other girls to be a part of STEM.” - Katharine Russell, Student at MTI and 2018 MTI Bert Krisher Memorial Scholarship

  9. PROGRAM: Travel Assistance • Travel Assistance is a stipend provided to encourage students to attend and participate in CORROSION each year. It is provided to: • Student Poster Session presenters • Scholarship recipients • Students presenting in the technical program • 2018 saw $57,000+ distributed

PROGRAM: Scholarships Awards Ceremony • Each NACE Foundation scholarship recipient is recognized at an awards ceremony held in conjunction with the NACE International Annual Conference • In conjunction with the awards ceremony, the Foundation hosts a networking-rich event for industry supporters to gather • Largest event of the year welcoming hundreds of corrosion professionals each year to join us and support the Foundation’s mission

PROGRAM: Outstanding Student Award • Established in 2015 • Recognizes exceptional service to NACE International, NACE Foundation, NACE student chapter, or the ACC Student Sub-committee • Recipients receive award, a $500 honorarium, and $1,500 travel stipend to be recognized in person • 2 students are recognized each year (one from the U.S. and one international student)

PROGRAM: Workforce Development Foundation provides funding for NACE training for qualified veterans • Application process, vetting through selection committee Open enrollment four times a year • Basic Corrosion Course – online Self-paced; must complete w/in 3 months & pass proctored exam • CP or CIP Level 1 upon successful completion of Basic • Industry professionals/NACE members paired a mentors • Foundation pays veterans travel and lodging expenses • Program funded by our generous donors! “My NACE Workforce Development Program experience was amazing!   13. NACE Foundation FUNDRAISING As part of our mission, the NACE International Foundation raises funds in a variety of ways to promote awareness and create education opportunities for the future corrosion workforce. Corporate Giving Individual donations

FUNDRAISING: Legacy Tree…CONTINUED • Launched in October 2015 • Exists in the Elcometer Building of the NACE Center, Houston, TX • Opportunity to recognize or memorialize a person or event in perpetuity • All students and instructors of NACE courses in Houston view the tree daily • All donations go into Foundation Unrestricted Fund, supporting area of greatest need

FUNDRAISING: Legacy Tree …CONTINUED Levels of Support • Silver Leaf $1,000 each • Gold Leaf $1,500 each • Small Stone $2,500 each • Butterfly $3,000 each • Acorn $5,000 each • Large Stone $10,000 each Donors offered the option of a one-time gift, or three equal annual installments.
