ACADEMY RULES • Smoking not permitted anywhere in the building • Break time (confirm with Ms. Oksana) • Toilets (1st and 2nd floors) • Course material provided by Academy (bring notebook, pen, pencil) • Food & drinks are not allowed in the classroom
ACADEMY RULES • The College requires regular attendance of lectures. You may be excused from attendance in the event of an emergency on medical grounds • Respect must be shown to lecturers and all staff members • The College does not tolerate any misconduct or abusive language • Punctuality is expected • If you experience any difficulties or have any questions relating to your programme of study, your Course Instructor should be contacted in the first instance

What to expect from the course • To study out of hours (A minimum of 2 hours a day) • On successful completion of the Examinations, to become a fully qualified Dental Nurse
What to expect from the course? • Aim to be working at a dental practice within approximately/ideally 3 months from start of course • To complete homework on time (Refer to Scheme of Work) and to work within tutors deadlines • To complete online ROE (Record of Experience)
Record of Experience (RoE) • What is ROE? • It is a work based assessment portfolio • Includes a number of tasks based on the role of a qualified dental nurse. • Students need to complete these tasks in the workplace whilst being observed by a GDC registrant who acts as a ‘Witness’. • Application for the ROE (when and how) –LWA will apply for ROE • LWA Deadlines for submission of online ROE : • - will be announced on the first day of the course • You will need to submit your ROE file to your Tutor 2 weeks prior to this for a final marking. • ROE to be marked by Tutor every week
WITNESS TRAINING • All Witnesses observing the clinical activities must receive a documented, standardised level of training to ensure they are fully aware of their role and responsibilities. • This is a mandatory requirement for all those GDC registered professionals acting as Witnesses to any student working towards the NEBDN National Diploma in Dental Nursing qualification.
Examination format • List of Examination Centres to choose from- Done via the application form which will be completed once your ROE has been successfully submitted. • Exam Fees £425(Jan 2014) payable with the submission of application form – A deadline will be provided by LWA Office when applications are sent out. • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and Extended Matching Type Questions (EMQ): • Resit options are available £50 theory £375 for practical • Mock Exam To be confirmed by Tutor

Dental Nurse Work • Aim to be working in a Dental Practice within 3 months - either paid or voluntary work. • Minimum Requirements is 8 hours a week (2 days or can be split across sessions) • Pay rates to range from min wage £6.31 an hour to £7.50 per hour.
