What is an incident? In small groups create a mind-map of the types of incident that the emergency services respond to.
Definition … An incident is: “an event or happening, usually sudden, unexpected and unwelcome that can cause loss of life, injury or damage to property. It involves human beings and neither victims or the emergency services know about it in advance”
Incident or accident? • Incident does not mean the same as accident. • An incident can be caused deliberately. • All accidents are incidents but not all incidents are accidents.
Emergency Incident … Any event requiring rapid attendance by the police, fire and rescue or ambulance services or a combination of them.

Incident Grading … Working in pairs research the ACPO guidelines on Incident Grading and present your findings to the group.
