What is an element? A substance made of 1 type of atom
What is a compound? Atoms of two or more different elements chemically joined.
What is a mixture? More than one type of substance present but not joined.
How can you separate mixtures? Filtration Evaporation
How would we describe a substance which dissolves in water? Soluble
What are the 3 states of matter? Solid Liquid Gas
What is the melting point? The temperature at which a substance changes from a solid to a liquid
What is the boiling point? The temperature at which a substance changes from a liquid to a gas
Where are all the known elements listed? The Periodic Table.
What are the 2 main categories for elements? Metals Non-metals
Which substances conduct electricity? All metals Carbon (in the form of graphite)
Which elements are present in sodium chloride? Sodium Chlorine
