Employee Handbook • The AISD Employee Handbook is located online at www.alvaradoisd.net. Go to Departments/Human Resources/ Documents/Employee Handbook. • You are expected to review the handbook to become knowledgeable on district’s procedures and practices.
AISD Board Policies • Alvarado ISD Board Policies are also located online. Go to www.alvaradoisd.net, Departments/School Board/Board Book and Policies. Policies regarding Employment and Employees are in the “D” series. Your principal will give you a list of policies that you will need to review at the beginning of the school year.
Paydays • Alvarado I.S.D. pays once a month, on the 15th of the month. • 187- Day employees’ first payday is September 15, 2016. • Direct deposit is mandatory for AISD employees. If you do not have a checking account, the district will issue a Payroll Debit Card.

Affordable Care Act • Effective January 1, 2014, individuals are required to have health insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents.

Workers’ Comp • Alvarado ISD provides workers’ compensation benefits to employees who suffer work- related illness or injury. • Safety is important and all employees are expected to follow safety rules and practices.
Bring your children to work • Alvarado ISD has tuition free attendance for our employees’ children, K-12, of nonresident employees. Employees must complete transfer form and transfer must be approved by campus Principal and Superintendent.
Athletic Passes • Current employees can attend all local AISD athletic events (general admission) free of charge with their ID badge. Reserved seating for Varsity football can purchased at Cactus Jack’s on Hwy. 67 just west of I-35.
CHRISTMAS CLUB • AISD certified employees are eligible to participate in our Christmas Club. • You choose the amount, maximum $2,400 • We begin monthly deductions in September • You receive total amount in November. • We continue to deduct through August. • SEPTEMBER 1st deadline to turn paperwork into Payroll. Forms are located at your campus/department office.
Alvarado Express Lube • Alvarado Express Lube offers discount services to AISD employees. • Besides the discounted price, they offer a pick up and delivery service when schedule permits.
Local Dry Cleaners • AISD employees receive a discount for all dry cleaning services. • They are conveniently located on Hwy 67 and Cummings.
Six Flags & Hurricane Harbor • Discounted tickets can be purchased through the payroll department. Tickets may be purchased with cash or by payroll deduction.
CareFlight Membership • AISD provides membership for all full-time employees. Membership will begin October 1 for new employees. Details are found in the Employee Handbook, Addendum.
Learning Center • AISD Learning Center is a child care facility offered to the employees of our district. The facility is located at 102 N Bill Jackson Drive and phone is 817-783-1140. Weekly Tuition Newborns – 12 mos. $125 1 year old $120 2 year old class $115 3 year old class $110 4 year old class $105 Tuition is payroll deductible, September – July each school year.
Learning Center (continued) Registration Fee is $35.00 individually, or $60.00 per family Drop-In Rates: Only available for children who will attend 3 days or less in the week and ONLY if space is available. Drop-in rates are $35 per day, regardless of age group.
Leave • 5 state days • 3 local days for professionals; 2 for paraprofessionals • 30 catastrophic leave, conditional • Sick leave pool; sick leave bank* • Bereavement, conditional • Jury duty *Sick Leave Bank is employee managed. See campus representative to join.
Perfect Attendance • Teachers can earn additional $$ • $200.00 for perfect attendance • $150.00 for one absence • $100.00 for two absences • Must have been in all classes, everyday through entire school year. Paid on last day of school. Any absence is counted as a full day.
Dress Code • AISD is a conservative, professional district. We are ROLE MODELS! • Neat, clean, business casual dress • Jeans allowed only on Fridays, with spirit shirt. No holes, rips or frays! • No rubber flip-flops. Wear shoes appropriate for your job/assignment! • No pierced jewelry, except earrings
Dress Code (continued) • District will tolerate a small, discreet tattoo, i.e. above ankle. • Large or offensive tattoos must be covered. They are distracting. • If you need clarification, ask your Principal.
