Clarify • Figure out how to pronounce (say) a word or a word’s meaning (definition) by using strategies.

pitch • Throw • The coach asked Reyna to pitch for the championship game.

Let’s try clarifying the underlined word Sentence #1 We knew a juffer was coming because the clouds were getting darker and the wind was blowing more strongly. Sentence #2 The meteorologist predicted that we would have a strong winds and possible flooding on Saturday.
Now you try: Clarify the underlined words Daniel wanted to pick some flowers from his garden to make a bouquet for his mother. He picked some tall sunflowers and some purple primulas. He thought irises would look nice, so he clipped some of those, too. Daniel went inside and put all the flowers in a vase.
