  2. CAPITALIZATION *Capitalize abbreviations that appear in addresses. EXAMPLE: Austin, TX 78701

  3. CAPITALIZATION *Capitalize acronyms that stand for proper nouns, such as businesses, government bodies, and organizations. EXAMPLE: You may have heard of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The IRS collects federal taxes. **spell out the name of an organization and include its acronym in parentheses the first time you use it (sentence context). Use only the acronym in later references.

  4. CAPITALIZATION LET’S PRACTICE!! *Read the sentence below. Write each abbreviation, initials or acronyms, adding the missing capitals. • The ceo, Charles s. Grayson, signed the letter. • His new address is Los Angeles, ca 90001. • The United States and Canada are members of nato.
