Most people would probably spend most of their time checking their newsfeed for new stories and their Facebook page for new likes and wall posts. Why is everybody hooked with Facebook? Facebook is a social networking site that was launched on February 4, 2004, and has been expanding to fit all the different areas of an individual through its new tools and features.
But, like all other web applications, we sometimes ignore the new features because we are already satisfied with the ones we are already using; we are not aware that there are already new features or we have no idea that these features exists, like the following:
One of the main uses of Facebook is to send messages which is much convenient than emailing with its emoticons for facebook features for a fun and exciting conversation. But, we are not aware that we should be receiving dozens of messages every year that we have not received. More or less, this messages go straight to our “other messages”, that has been a folder for messages that do not come from our friends. It does not end there, if we have too many links, the messages will end up in the other messages. Existing features and settings we are not aware of:
When Facebook expanded, they automatically integrated with some of the world’s other languages, which is a proof that Facebook is the most popular social networking site. We could set the language we want, it could be French, Afrikaans, Deutsch, and other languages that can be easily translated to English. But what we do not know is that there are several versions of plain ol’ English to spice up our account; we can do this by accessing the language icon and choose Leet Speak. We could make use of English (pirate), which can take us back to a more swashbuckling English version.
The Facebook privacy setting application is very extensive and powerful. We can limit everything with it like our status updates, our profile information, and pictures. We could even choose the people who can see our account by setting up groups and even blocking individuals. If we think that we have complicated privacy structures, we can check Facebook Timeline viewer to switch the public’s view of our page and see for ourselves who looks into our account.
There are instances in which we receive request from people that we do not want to be added as a friend and we mostly click the option which literally hide the requests. The request is not deleted, so to completely delete the friend requests, we should first access our Friend Request page and scroll it down until we come to the “see hidden request” option of the page. If the request is found on the page, we can delete it for good.
