Contents • Background • Web-based surveillance (FIS) and reporting system in Mongolia NIC • Challenges • Conclusion
I. Background • NIC, Mongolia has 3 Network Labs and 197 influenza surveillance sentinel sites; • Web-based surveillance system, designed in Dec. 2009, launched online in Oct. 2010; • Conducted on-job trainings among health staff, statisticians in sentinel surveillance sites nationwide;

III. Challenges • Current system is only functioning for data entering and reporting; • Some sentinel sites no access to internet; • Only Mongolian version is available; • Current system can not to show detailed lab results;
IV. Conclusion • Web-based surveillance system in NIC is much efficient for timely collecting data; • The sentinel sites share the same database; • The feedback of the surveillance results are online in real-time; • Some functions of the system are still under development (lab and epidemiology part).
Way ahead… • Develop the more comprehensive data analysis and reports; • Improve the sentinel sites access to internet; • Develop the English version;
