Laws of Exponents It is very important that you not just memorize laws of exponents. You MUST understand how they were discovered and why they work. Let’s begin . . .
First Law of Exponents – Product of Powers - “When you multiply the same base, you keep the base and ADD the exponents.”
Second Law of Exponents – Power of a Power - “To find a power to a power, keep the base, and MULTIPLY the exponents.”
Third Law of Exponents – Power of a Product - “To find a power of a product, find the power of each factor and multiply.
