Abstract • Planning and Scheduling are decision-making processes • There is the need to plan and schedule due to the limited resources available to satisfy numerous wants or activities • Planning and Scheduling is used in service industries to allocate few resources to activities yet to be completed • They use mathematical and heuristic methods to allocate these resources • Despite the numerous delivery of online courses using these systems, the effectiveness of online learning is still being questioned • Hence, the evaluation of these course management systems is necessary to maximize learning. • The different course management systems and their features shall be studied • An evaluation and analysis of these systems and their effectiveness on learning, shall be done using appropriate statistical techniques • Possible alternatives / improvements shall be recommended.

Introduction • Three main forms of learning exist: Traditional or Synchronous, Online or Asynchronous, and Blended Learning. • Online Learning is becoming more popular locally and globally • As traditional learning and its effectiveness is evaluated, so it is necessary to evaluate online learning and its effectiveness.
