  1. Aim: How do chemists use physical and chemical properties to identify matter? There are two basic types of properties that we can associate with matter. They are physical properties and chemical properties. Physical properties can be observed without changing the substance’s identity. A Chemical Property is any of a material’s properties that become evident during a chemical reaction.
