WP3 Hybrid Discussion • ABC130 hybrids, what next? • Current status is FR4 hybrid with 10 off ABC130s shown to work • Consider re-spin of circuits to make a full module? • Would require both left-handed and right-handed flavours of circuit (without HCC) • Allows one to evaluate integrated powering of modules – works or not • Important to know as has implications for Bus Tape/Stave etc. • Made in FR4, as presently done, for quick turn-around • Would be ready for returning ABC130s (delivery expected in ~40 days?) • Resulting in a complete module demonstrator early summer • If successful, then go for a full kapton hybrid aligned to HCC • In anticipation of HCC arriving September/October
WP3 Hybrid Discussion, cont’d • Some thoughts on testing of hybrids on a panel • 8 hybrids on a panel, need to consider data I/O hook up to HSIO, temperature interlock and powering • Hook up to HSIO – consider using ATLAS EoS – Commonality of components • Provides common TTC broadcast and data paths from hybrids back to HSIO • Also provision for hybrid NTC monitoring • Fits within a single 40 way Samtec connector (as presently used on HSIO), to be added to EoS • BUT • Monitoring of hybrid NTCs is also done via HCC – need to test that this works • Happy to readout NTC via HCC only? • Bundle with EoS as well (is this possible)? • Previously considered hybrid NTCs acting as interlock during testing • Power dissipation much lower than ABCN-25 hybrid – much easier to manage? • Consider adding temperature interlock to cooling pipe (and vacuum) as first level of defence? • Followed by hybrid NTC • Powering of hybrids – what scheme? • DCDC – one circuit for 2 hybrids (4 total). Comes as plug-in, as used for (present) module testing • Serial powering – would require single circuit per hybrid (8 total), as plug-in • But, present SCT hybrids tested at elevated temperature (hybrid temp of 55°C for 90hrs) • Cooling of DCDC could be problematic at elevated temperature (thermal shut down of regulator) • Serial powering less of a problem...
