The fine print…… Social Studies (3.0credits required) World History 1.0 US History 1.0 (2 years of AP US History fulfills the World History and US History requirements) Elective (1/2 credit) Gov’t & Econ (1/2 credit – Senior year)
More fine print…… Science (3.0 credits required) 1 biological science 1 physical science 1 other science (At least two must include a lab for 4-year college admission)
At least one credit total of an elective must include a course in Still more fine print……… Business Technology Fine arts and/or a Foreign Language
Additional college admission recommendations • Foreign language-2 years minimum of the same language • 2 sciences must have labs • Fine arts credit (art, music, drama) • More for selective colleges or honors programs • Check specific college information
Typical course load in senior year • English • Math • Science • Government & Economics • Electives MINIMUM of 6 periods daily per semester

No English 12: choose 1 credit or more of English electives AP Eng 12 only if taking AP Eng 11 (no application needed) Choose carefully from course descriptions Note which are college prep and which are not; read the chart Note prerequisites Your English teacher will make a recommendation English
Math • AP by application only • Your math teacher will tell you which math course to select. • You MUST select this math course. • Deadline for math teacher to change recommendation is end of school in June.
Science • Physics only if algebra 2 > C • Fundamental Physics has math limitation (check catalog) • Anatomy/Physiology C or better in biology or chemistry • Read the prerequisites
Science • AP by application only • Make sure you have 1 physical and 1 biological science.
Any semester electives AP by application only Gov’t & Econ can be taken in senior year only Must have 3 credits total to graduate Social Studies
Career Technical Programs • 2 year commitment is strictly enforced • If you are currently in the first year, you will be automatically placed in the second year.

Remember….. • You must be enrolled in at least 6 periods daily. • Sign up for more than 6; you can drop a 7th class the first two weeks of school without penalty. • ONLY schedule corrections next fall
What’s next? • List the courses you still NEED to graduate. • Select the electives you WANT to take. • PRIORITIZE the electives in case we can’t give you all of them.
Talk with your 7th period teacher. • Discuss your choices and priorities. • Talk with your classroom teachers.
Include your parents. • Take home your Course Selection Guide. • Show your parents what you are taking and why.
Enter your choices • Enter your courses online. • Print a copy. • You sign it. • A parent signs it. • Return the printout to your 7th period teacher.
April Verification • List of courses you requested mailed home. • Return it signed to the guidance secretary (A 215)
You will be able to fine tune your course selections until June. • You will NOT be able to change your mind next fall.
