NE ROC Organisation Proposal Gert Svensson(PDC), Ron Trompert (SARA) EGEE 08 - Istanbul - 23 Sep 2008
Today EGEE08 - Istanbul - 22/28 Sept 2008 Two federations: Nordic, Benelux One distributed ROC • Three sites in Sweden and two in Netherlands GGUS handling and 1:st line support: one week each (Nordic resp Benelux) • Rotated among the sites. Until recently no COD or TMP duties NGDF: • an organisation for Grids set up by the Nordic Countries • runs the Nordic Tier-1 distributed over 9 sites • volunteers for the COD duty in the Nordic countries • develops ARC middleware Nordic sites run ARC (and some Glite)
Challenges Distributed ROC Distributed Tier-1 Different organisations for ROC and Tier-1 Potentially different organisations for ROC and COD work Knowledge of ARC and gLite by different groups EGEE08 - Istanbul - 22/28 Sept 2008
Nordic sites EGEE08 - Istanbul - 22/28 Sept 2008
Ideas behind proposal Increase collaboration in the Nordic federation between the ROC and NGDF Split more of the work between the Nordic and Benelux federation Continue the Nordic – Benelux collaboration for experience exchange and backup EGEE08 - Istanbul - 22/28 Sept 2008
Proposal The current Nordic ROC sites and the NGDF sites shares the GGUS handling, 1-st line support and r-COD for the Nordic federation The Benelux sites do the same for the Benelux federation TMP duty is rotated between the Nordic and Benelux federation on an equal basis Continued collaboration between the federations EGEE08 - Istanbul - 22/28 Sept 2008
Advantages Closer relation between the ROC and Tier-1 Better utilising experience of different middlewares (ARC, Glite) Stronger regionalisation (more personal knowledge of the sites) EGEE08 - Istanbul - 22/28 Sept 2008
