Summer activities for students, 2005 Summer course ”I’ve Got The POWER!! Try Alternative EnergySources”, Lodz,Poland, 8-22 July The course is organized by the BUP in cooperation with the BEST Lodz group. BESTstands for Board of European Students of Technology. It is an international organizationof students from technical universities from all Europe. The scientific programmecontainsboth lectures, seminars and field trips to facilities connected with energyconservationand energy systems. 35 students Summer cruise on Mazury Lakes, Poland, 1-12 August The cruise will be organized by the BUP in cooperation with the Technical University ofLodz, Poland. The cruise starts in Gizycko and goes through the whole Mazury LakeDistrict. 22 students. Summer cruise on board Fryderyk Chopin, Baltic Sea, 21 Sept.-2 Oct. Fryderyk Chopin (55 m long brig) will leave Swinoujscie in Poland on 21 September. Wewill end our sailing trip in Kiel, Germany and return to Swinoujscie by bus. 40 studentsand teachers.
The scientific programme The scientific programme containsboth lectures, seminars and field trips to facilitiesconnected with energy conservation and energy systems.The course is planned for 35 students, 15 of them BUP students and 20 students fromBEST groups all over Europe (i.e. Spain, Russia, Romania, Portugal, Finland). It willbe a great opportunity for students to discuss the ways different regions deal withboth energy problems and Sustainable Development. The course will be held inEnglish, soCOMMUNICATIVE KNOWLEDGE OF ENGLISH IS REQUIRED!!
Topics of lectures: - Introduction to Sustainable Development of EnergySystems • Solar Thermal • Photovoltaics • Wind Power • Hydropower • Biomasses • Geothermal energy • Hydrogen Fuel Cell You should be prepared for a discussion about alternative energy sources (advantages, disadvantages, how this kind of energy is being used in your country), ways of applying renewable energy sources in different locations.
