Title is bold – only first word is capitalized • 1st level bullet is bold, 28 pt. • 2nd level bullet is bold, 26 pt. • 3rd level bullet is not bold, 26 pt. • 4th level bullet is not bold 22 pt.
General guidelines • Try hard to keep title of slide short (on one line). • If it has to get longer, use the template slide I created. NO MORE than two lines. Put less in title, more in body. • Only capitalize the first word of title, except on first slide of module. • Normal title is left justified. • There are often times when you need to alter that to fit everything in, but let’s try to keep it left-justified when it works.
If you need to use two or more lines for the title, you may have to adjust the text boxes manually, but try to leave the same amount of space within box on top and bottom of title • If you have to insert a text box that wasn’t there previously, go to a slide where you have a text box and copy and paste so the new text box has the same formatting and bullets. Then adjust its size. • Please align the boxes vertically and horizontally.

So how about when you want to add a picture? • Formatting should work okay, with the settings that are in the master slide • Again, sub-bullets should come out okay on their own • If not, either leave them for someone else to fix or learn the tricks of the trade. • Use the bullet button – don’t make your own, that is WAY more work to fix.
Altering the size of the textbox painlessly • If you want your white text box to be smaller than full size, you can copy this text box, which is set to adjust itself to the amount of text in the box. • You can change that setting yourself by: • Go to “format/placeholder” • Select “text box” from the top menu • Click the top two boxes (“word wrap text in autoshape” and “resize autoshape to fit text”)
Adding a blue take home message box • To add a take home message box (don’t know that we will use this a lot) • Just copy and paste it off this slide. Can’t get the master slide system to recognize it. If you have a take home message for the slide – put it here. 24 pt. arial.
Footer information • “Developed by” should just have last names (no “ands” or initials), e.g., Munson, Host, Axler. • Updated should be the last date anyone messed with it. • Slide numbering system – see next slide. Not sure how this should work.
The slide numbering system • The slide numbering system goes like this: • U# = unit number (capitalize U), e.g., U3 • m# = module number (do not capitalize), e.g., m21 • a,b,c = lecture within module, e.g., m21b • s = slide number within lecture • Lab PowerPoint slides go with a particular module, but not with a particular lecture, so I am not sure how to number those yet.
