Value Series LED Drivers Selectable Output Current • Each driver has four output current settings that can be selected via dip switches located on the bottom of the driver. • The dip switch diagram is located next to the dip switches and it is also shown on the specsheet • The driver is shipped set to the maximum output current Excerpt from App Note EVD12: Selectable Output Current LED Driver Instructions The white squares on the dip switch diagram represent the handle of the dip switch. In the adjacent configuration for 850mA, the white squares have been circled in green to highlight the handle of each switch. To set the driver to 850mA, the handle of switch one should be moved down towards the number 1 and the handle of switch two should be moved up towards ON. In this example, the handles of both dip switches have been moved towards ON. The dip switch diagram shows that when the handle of both switches are moved towards ON, the driver will provide an output current of 900mA. INTERNAL ONLY
Value Series LED Drivers Compatible Modules • The Value Series LED Drivers will work with the V-Series modules, M2 modules, standard ULT modules and 36V COBs • App note EVS12 V Series Linear System Configurations has been created as a reference for using the Values Series LED Drivers with the 32 LED and 56 LED V Series modules • FAEs can use the existing module calculators to provide customer specific details Possible Module Configurations with Value Series LED Drivers: Linear Drivers Downlight Drivers INTERNAL ONLY
Value Series LED Drivers Key Features vs Competitive Product The Value Series LED Drivers offer more features than Philips CertaDrive or Osram Current Select Risks: INTERNAL ONLY
Value Series LED Drivers Value Series vs PW Series The Value Series LED Drivers are a great offering when precise dimming is not required INTERNAL ONLY
Value Series LED Drivers Pros and Cons • Pros and Cons of the Value Series LED drivers • Dimming • Pro - the Value Series LED drivers are dimmable down to 5% of each output current setting. • Con – the minimum dimming level is fixed at 5% and the tolerance will yield products with 5-7% minimum dimming. • Tuning • Pro – the Value Series offers the ability to select one of four output currents per model. • Con – the tuning is done by dip switches. These are small switches that are not as user friendly as NFC tuning, but they can be set with a small flat-head screw driver (no special tools required). INTERNAL ONLY
Value Series LED Drivers Pros and Cons • Pros and Cons of the Value Series LED drivers • Efficiency • Pro – due to the smaller output voltage range and the larger tolerance on output current, the Value Series will have efficiency that equals or exceeds the PW drivers. • Con – larger tolerance on output current allows for more variation in light levels unit to unit comparison. • Note: this higher output current tolerance performance matches what is available from the Philips CertaDrive. • Overall Performance • Pro – the Value Series LED Drivers have passed our standard validation and reliability tests. • Con – the Value Series LED drivers have wider tolerances in output current and higher flicker (not visible) than our PW drivers. • Note: this lower performance matches what is available from the Philips CertaDrive. Value Series LED Drivers Pros and Cons • Pros and Cons of the Value Series LED drivers • Packaging • Pro – drivers are packaged in plastic trays of 6 units with 5 layers for a carton quantity of 30 units keeps costs down. • Con – order quantities will be in multiples of 30 for OEMs. • Warranty • Pro – the Value Series LED Drivers will have our standard 5-year warranty. • Con – the Value series will not have the option for a 10-year warranty. • Cost • Pro – the Value Series LED Drivers will have a lower selling price than the PW series of LED drivers. • Con – the cost of a Value Series LED driver is more dependent on current/power levels than the PW. There will be less of a gap between Value series and PW drivers at 1A than at lower currents. INTERNAL ONLY
