  2. Our location - Beringen • A city located in the Belgian province ‘Limburg’ • Population of 42.000 people • Near the border with Germany and The Netherlands • Near big cities as Hasselt and Genk • A City with a MINE HISTORY • Multicultural city: 77 nationalities!

  3. Our school • Primary school for children with special needs • Age 2,5 – 14 • 334 pupils • ca. 80 teachers, paramedics, staff, … • Multigrade classes (based on level of the pupils)

  4. The children we teach • Type 1: children with a mild mental handicap or a developmental delay (not for nursery school) • Type 2: children having a moderate or severe mental handicap • Type 8: pupils with serious learning disabilities (not for nursery school or secondary education)

  5. We also offer special education for: • Childrenwithautism  in special autismclassrooms in type 1, type 2 and type 8 • Dyslecticchildren  extra attentionfrom a specialised teacher, supporting them in the classroomor in individualsessions • GON-pupils (= integratededucation) someteachers of the school are guiding and helpingchildren oryoungsterswith special needstaking classes in an regular school

  10. Schoolfeest In June we invite all the parents, family and friends in our school to celebratewithus. At thisday the childrenperform a song, an act,… for all visitors.

  11. Buses • 14 buses • Free transport • Almost all the children • Bus attentands take care of the children on the bus.

  12. 2nd Schoolbuilding This school year we will open a new schoolbuilding for the pupils of Type 2
