NLLEA: Our Purpose • To build close professional and personal relationships among liquor law enforcement officials. • To secure a unity of action in law enforcement matters. • To enhance the standards of liquor law enforcement personnel and the training of the law enforcement profession generally.

  5. NLLEA: We Are Committed To • Improving the standards and practices of liquor law enforcement. • Facilitating the professional development of our members. • Publicly recognizing the role and achievements of liquor law enforcement in protecting and promoting public safety.

  6. NLLEA: What We Do • Collect and disseminate research data. • Consult with law enforcement agencies to provide technical assistance on: • Best practices • Policy development • Advise lawmakers on alcohol-related policy. • Conduct the NLLEA Training Academy. • Host Annual Conference.

  7. NLLEA: Why We Do What We Do • Research has demonstrated that enforcement of policies limiting service to underage persons and intoxicated patrons reduces alcohol-related problems and improves public safety and reduces crime.

  8. NLLEA Training Academy • The NLLEA is committed to the professional development of its members. To assist its members in achieving their enforcement and regulatory objectives, the NLLEA sponsors a national training academy each year. • Each year the staff of instructors, selected from within the membership, strives to improve the Training Academy by updating existing instruction and adding new classes that reflect the changing needs of the membership. • Since the first session in 1996, the academy has grown to encompass four separate and distinct phases each held during the same week.

NLLEA Training Academy Phases • Phase I:Basic Class; includes courses related to Underage Drinking Issues, Fraudulent IDs, Investigations on Licensed Premises, and Handling Informants. • Phase II:Advanced Class; includes more advanced courses such as Financial and Hidden Ownership Investigations and Critical Incident Stress Management. • Phase III:Special Investigations Class; consists of specialty courses such as Regulating Video Gambling, Preventing Underage Drinking using the Internet, and TRACE. • Phase IV:Leadership Class; specifically targeted towards recently promoted first line supervisors. • Click here for more Training Academy information

  10. NLLEA: Annual Conference • The NLLEA’s 26th Annual Conference will be held in Leesburg, Virginia from August 7-9, 2012. For three days in August, NLLEA conference attendees will meet in conjunction with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention’s (OJJDP) Coordinators’ Symposium to promote communication and community action regarding liquor laws and enforcement. • More information is available online: http://www.nllea.org/conference.htm
