Ethnography • Walked around Cardiff town and noticed a lot of international students • They always tend to keep to themselves • Some looked lost
Problem Identified • The problem that I identified is that people from other countries don't know the area well and they aren't interacting with residential students

Technology Research • Touch screen interactive map • Smartphones
Primary Research • Llandaff Campus • Talybont students • Interviewed a student who goes to Cardiff University
Interview Why haven’t you found places that remind you of home? “I haven’t had the time to explore and I’m scared of getting lost” Have you heard of any places that remind you of home? “Yes I don’t know where it is”
Target Market Gender: Both males and females Age: 18-23
Target Market Profession: International Students Market Size: University Students R.R.P: App - £0.65 - £5.88 Touch screen interactive maps – £909 - £48,506
Target Market Purpose • Haven't been in the area for very long • They don’t have time to explore the city and socialise with other people. • Saves them time instead of exploring and getting lost.
Explanation of the problem in detail • International students from other countries come here for a good education and to experience a new culture. They are lonely, homesick and they haven’t been in the area long to know where places are to feel comfortable and to socialise with others.
Detailed design brief International students are often alienated by the different culture and language barrier. In reaction to this a system or product should be designed to help international students locate areas in Cardiff. This solution should also notify whether student events or activities are coming up. This gives them the option to interact more with other students from the U.K.
