WHAT DO WE DO AT IRTE OUR AGENDA The Institute of Road Traffic Management (IRTE) was established 27 years ago as a not-for-profit organisation (society) with the aim to support the governments and other stakeholders towards catalyzing their capacity building program in all domains of Road Traffic Management, of which safety is the integral and boding factor.   4. ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION It is a fact that in most road traffic accidents, accident investigation is not done properly. The road user is generally blamed for the crash, and that too the vehicle especially the heavier one involved. While the IRTE is training police in the domain of accident investigation, supporting tools and systems have also been developed to ensure that crashes are scientifically recorded and the evidence is secured correctly. This process will allow a proper accident investigation to take place. The aim is to determine the factual causes and consequences of road traffic crashes which lead to serious and fatal injuries, in order to ensure that realistic remedial measures can be taken. ABOUT US IRTE took the initiative to set up India’s first Mobile Collision Analysis & Research Laboratory CrashLab, with a vision to revolutionize scientific collision investigation in the country and to support the police and other investigating authorities in determining the actual causes and consequences of such collisions.

FEATURES OF CRASH LAB •CrashLab uses the latest Global Positioning System (GPS) to ascertain the true location of the collision scene. •A latest software that can process intricate data to reconstruct collisions using analysis softwares such as PC Crash. •The pictures taken by CrashLab can be sent directly to the Police Control Room or to IRTE through the internet. •CrashLab has multiple gauges, scales, compass, tools and aids for measuring tyre tread, temperature, humidity, direction, reflectivity, luminosity, liner parameters, time, elevation and speed. •It is also equipped with the latest breath alcohol evidential devices.
