Derailment between Hval and Hønefoss in Norway 25.07.2008 • Intermodal train 5505 between Oslo and Bergen derailed with 14 wagons due to a track in poor condition with wooden sleepers that had developed excessive track width. • The derailment occurred on a freight only line 6 months after a track inspection wagon had diagnosed an excessive track width, but no remedial action had been taken. • A very high temperature (30 deg C) at the accident day probably contributed to the excessive track width.
