Advancing existing models from the UK and USA with plans to recruit medical students for a 4-year program. Ongoing collaboration and support from the British Army discussed.

  3. ROTS • SUCCESSFUL EXISTING MODELS IN U.K. (UOTC) AND U.S.A. (ROTC) • PROPOSAL TO DEVELOP PILOT SCHEME IN GAUTENG – 3x MEDICAL SCHOOLS, 1x TECHNIKON • SIGNIFICANT SUPPORT AMONGST STUDENTS - ~ 90 % ON POLLS

  4. ROTS • TO RECRUIT MEDICAL STUDENTS IN 3rd YEAR OF TRAINING • DURATION OF TRAINING 4 YEARS, APPROX 20 DAYS PER YEAR • TRAINING DURING VACATIONS, WEEK-ENDS, AFTER HOURS • BOTH MILITARY TRAINING AND SPECIALIST MEDICAL TRAINING
