Lost soul, fallen angel woman of sin
On this scaffold I stand again I may stand alone but I still stand
Hath you no compassion to pull a woman from the sinking sand
Hath you no heart to attempt to understand
Heart, body, soul yearning for a lover Found comfort in his arms though betrothed to another
Forever condemned to this pain and strife
I ask what has come of our New World When a mother’s Punishment is bestowed Upon her little girl
Love knows no laws, Follows no rule Would you feel the same If not me but you
How I would tell this to you all But my heart wears heavy as silence begins to fall
Still I stand tall up against All you have done For I am no longer an Adulterer but an able one
A woman who can be found On her last day Still wearing the scarlet A
