WHEN THOU ART CONVERTED • Many today are the same as Peter in Lk 22:31-34 • They think they are converted but are not • Peter said he was ready to follow Christ even to death but later denied him with an oath
WHEN THOU ART CONVERTED • CHANGED LIFE • Mind changed by faith Rom 10:17; Acts 2:36-38 • Practice changed by repentance 2Cor 7:10; Matt 21:28,29 • State changed by baptism Rom 3:23; Acts 2:38; Rom 6:3,17,18 INNOCENT Guilty
WHEN THOU ART CONVERTED • CONSTANT IN LORD'S SERVICE • Constantly study God's word Acts 17:11; 1Pet 2:2; 2Tim 2:15 • Constantly worship Heb 10:25; Psa 122:1; 1Cor 11:26; Acts 20:7; Acts 2:42; Eph 5:19; Col 3:16; Acts 2:42; 1Thess 5:17; 1Cor 16:1,2; 2Cor 9:6,7 • Constantly at work for the Lord Jhn 9:4; 1Pet 2:21; Gal 6:9,10; Neh 4:6
WHEN THOU ART CONVERTED • CHARGED TO STRENGTHEN BRETHREN • Jesus charged Peter to do this Lk 22:32; Acts 5:29; Acts 2 • Partial conversion is a tragedy • Get out the bad, but never fill our lives with good Matt 12:43-45 • A person partially converted will not be able to strengthen weak brethren.
WHEN THOU ART CONVERTED • CONTENT IN LIFE • Material realm Lk 3:14; 1Tim 6:8; Heb 13:5 • Willing to put up with our lot in life when we can't change it Phil 4:11 • Parents tell children: "whatever you do, just be a Christian" serve the Lord on His terms Josh 7:7
WHEN THOU ART CONVERTED • When one is truly converted they will be: • Changed by the Gospel in all three areas: faith changed their mind; repentance their practice and baptism their state • These will then be constant in their service to the Lord: Study - Worship - Work • These will be a source of strength and encouragement to their brethren • It is not enough to only be changed or constant we must be a source of strength for others demonstrating our contentment in doing so. • True conversion exhibits all of these attributes as with Peter when he was converted
