Technology Capability of China Space Launch Vehicles • CASC developed 11 types of Long March launch vehicles, 7 types in use with LEO up to 9200kg & GTO up to 5100kg. • 88 launches completed with 46 consecutive successes since Oct. 1996. • 24 International launches performed with 30 satellites and 6 piggyback payloads. Technology Capability of China Space Satellites • Developed various satellites such as telecommunication satellites, navigation satellites, earth resource satellites, meteorological satellites, recoverable satellites and scientific satellites, etc. 8 types of satellite platform series developed and 70+ various domestic spacecrafts launched. • Nigcomsat-1 Satellite, Venesat-1 IOD contracts for international users (LV, SV, Ground Equipment, etc.)

  12. Technology Capability of China Space Navigation Satellites Satellite navigation system may provide regional navigation and positioning services for transportation of highway, railway and sea, etc. on all-weather & all-time basis.

Technology Capability of China Space Meteorological Satellites • FY-1: The 1st generation SSO meteorological satellite, 1st satellite launched in 1988, 4 satellites launched; • FY-2: The 1st generation GSO meteorological satellite, 1st satellite launched in 1997,3 satellites launches; • FY-3: New generational Polar Orbit meteorological satellite, under development. Technology Capability of China Space Lunar Exploration (Chang’e Project) • There are 3 phases of Chang’e Project namely Circumlunar Orbiting, Landing on the Moon and Returning to the Earth; • Phase 1 of Chang’e Project was composed of five systems: Moon exploration satellite, launch vehicle, launch site, TT&C, ground application; • CASC is responsible to develop Chang’e satellite and LM-3A launch vehicle.

  22. Scientific Application & Int’l Cooperation of Space Technology SJ-5 SJ-5 is the first modern small scientific satellite based on general bus ( CAST 968 ). SJ-5 was successfully launched on May 10th, 1999. Customer Applications • The main purpose is to study space radiation environment and single particle effect and its countermeasures • Space liquid scientific experiment China Academy of Science

Scientific Application & Int’l Cooperation of Space Technology • Double-Star project mainly studies the magnetic storm triggered by the solar activities and the interplanetary disturbances and the physical process of disasterous geospace weather, then further more set up the physical model of magnetic storm, dynamic model and forecast model of geospace environment. • The successful launches of TC-1 and TC-2 in 2003 & 2004 led to a new era of Chinese and European space research cooperation.   25. Scientific Application & Int’l Cooperation of Space Technology Solar Space Telescope (SST) SST is a space science program proposed by China Academy of Science (CAS). It will promote Chinese remote sensing technology and space science.

Scientific Application & Int’l Cooperation of Space Technology Disaster & Environment Monitoring & Forecast Satellite Constellation(HJ-1A/B; HJ-1C) By utilizing satellite remote sensing technology, the constellation is to receive information about disaster and environment, to timely and fully master the occurrence, development and evolution process of natural disaster and environment pollution. Therefore to provide scientific decision-making basis for preventing and reducing the losses caused by environment and calamity damage, and eventually to improve capability of disaster reduction & environment protection. Application: Disaster & Environment Monitoring & Forecast Customer: Disaster Reduction Committee & State Environment Protection Administration of China

Scientific Application & Int’l Cooperation of Space Technology CBERS(Cooperation b/t Developing Countries) • CBERS-1/01 & CBERS-1/02 launched in 1999 and 2003 respectively; • China & Brazil government signed an Agreement on CBERS-1/02B satellite in 2004; • In addition, China & Brazil government signed an Agreement for CBERS-1/03 & 04 satellites.

Scientific Application & Int’l Cooperation of Space Technology Recoverable Scientific Experimental Satellite & Piggyback Payload Service In 1987, China provided piggyback services for controlled life support system and micro-gravity measuring instruments for Matra Maconi by using Chinese recoverable scientific test satellite.
