What is Huntington Disease? • It is an inherit disease • Brain disorder that causes physical and emotional behavior, also mental. • The disease affects the patients ability to think , talk, and move around. By destroying the cells that are in the part of the brain that function this categories.
Symptoms: • There are 3 categories of symptoms for Huntington Disease. • Mental Symptoms: forgetfulness, difficulty answering questions and making decisions. • Emotional Symptoms: disinterest in please and joy, lack of energy, and bipolar disorder. • Physical Symptoms: trouble balancing, difficulty swallowing or eating, and muscle contractions.
Treatment: • There is no cure for Huntington Disease but scientist are trying to find a way to slower down the disease. • Some ways the patients are slowing down their symptoms are by: staying active, eating healthy and have some kind of spiritual or psychosocial support.
History: • Named for George Huntington(physician) he first described the illness . • Back then known as Huntington's chorea, Greek for dance. • name refers to the un-controlling, jerky movements that can develop in later stages of the illness
