The Beginning of the band • The band started out as Coltrane’s Wig but renamed to Medski Martin and Wood • Medeski Martin and Wood got started in 1991. • Their musical style is Jazz • Their music covers a broad range of genres, often fusing jazz with hip hop, funk, soul and rock to create danceable grooves.
Medeski Martin and Wood effortlessly straddle the gap between avant-garde improvisation and accessible groove based jazz. • The three core band members contributed to numerous other recording projects, both as sidemen and leaders.
