  1. Exodus 15:11 (NIV) • 11 Who among the gods • is like You, Lord? • Who is like You — • majestic in holiness, • awesome in glory, • working wonders?

  3. “We know nothing like the divine holiness. It stands apart, unique, • unapproachable, incomprehensible and unattainable. The natural man is blind to it. He may fear God’s power and admire His wisdom, but His holiness he cannot even imagine.”

  4. Isaiah 6:1-5 (NIV) • 1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of His robe filled the temple.

  14. 1. If God is so holy that He cannot even gaze at sin, how can sinful people like us have a relationship with Him?

  15. 2. If trusting in Christ’s work on the cross blots out our sin before God and we are holy in His sight, why do we keep on sinning?

  16. Three stages of holiness: • Justification: Positional holiness • Sanctification: Practical holiness • Glorification: Permanent holiness

  17. Romans 7:15 (NIV) • 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

  18. Two reasons change doesn’t stick: • We fail to substitute good behaviors for bad behavior • Second one: We fail to persevere

  23. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;

  24. 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

  27. Put off your old self • Be made new in the attitude of your mind • Put on the new self • Persevere!

  28. Romans 2:4 (NIV) • 4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
