Apprenticeship TrainingScheme • The Apprenticeship Act, 1961 was enacted to fully utilise the industrial facilities in order to impart practical training and develop work-ready workforce. • Industry shall engage apprentices in a band of 2.5 % to 10 % of total manpowerstrength (including contractual staff) • Reimbursement by GoI to establishment those who engages apprentices: • In case of Trade Apprentices Under National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme(NAPS) @ 25 % of prescribed stipend paid (max. Rs. 1500 per month) • In case of Graduate/ Technician Apprentices Under National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) @ 50 % of prescribed stipend paid

Stipend Paid by Industry Training Courses Stipend Paid By Industry Courses 1 3 • 262 Course – Trade Apprentices • 163 Courses – Graduate & Technician 137 Courses – Technician (Vocational) 76 Courses - Optional Trades • (Designed by Employers & PMKVY/MES-SDI • Minimum age – 14 yrs. • Duration – 3 to 24 months • Basic Training – 20 to 25 % of total duration • On Job Training – 75 to 80 % of duration • Basic training is not required for graduate • & technical apprentices • Assessment & Certification – All India Trade Tests (AITT) • Trade Apprentices – 70, 80 & 90 • % of min. wage of semi-skilled workers in 1st, 2nd & 3rd year respectively • Graduate Apprentices – Rs. 4984 per month • Technician Apprentices – Rs. 3542 per month • Reimbursement to Employers by GoI • Under NAPS @ 25 % of prescribed stipend paid (max. Rs. 1500 per month) • Under NATS @ 50 % of prescribed stipend paid Key Features -ATS Training 2

Government of Gujarat has launched the “Mukhyamantri Apprenticeship Training Scheme” in 2018 • The main objective is to increase the employability of the youth of Gujarat and to encourage industry participation in training • In line with NAPS under MATS incentive to the industry: • Graduate Apprentice- INR 3000/ Month • Diploma Apprentice – INR 2000/ Month • Trade & Other Apprentices – INR 1500/ Month • This is over and above the reimbursement given under NAPS & NATS MukhyamantriApprenticeship TrainingScheme(MATS) TargetforFY2018-19:1LacsApprentices KeyGovt.Departments,GoG • Agriculture & Co – Op. • Urban Dev. & Urban Housing • Roads & Building • Ports • Transport • Labour & Employment • Industries & Mines • Higher & Tech.
