Reading Behaviors • Physical Behaviors: tracking, distracted, loses place, fluency, skips text, squints, etc… • Cognitive Behaviors: Use of comprehension strategies, attitude toward reading overall. • Uses one or more strategies, uses context, rereads, sub vocalizes to make sense, attempts self correction.
Keeping Progress Notes • Use objective language • Samples page 87 • State observations in the positive form: • Billy read with 90% accuracy. vs. Billy made 12 miscues while reading. • Ann uses 2 reading strategies when she encounters unknown words. • Observe every student
