  4. History • Man used yeast to leaven (to make rise) bread 5000 years ago • We were using yeast to bake bread before we had a written language • Luis Pasteur identified yeast as a living organism in the 1860’s after the microscope was invented

  6. Yeasts is gassy…. • Yeast burp and fart out C02 gas after they eat • Which is a good thing for us Yeast also produce alcohol, which gives our bread flavor. Alcohol evaporates when cooked.
