  2. Cosmopolitan Baccarat Ring • Chinese New Years Eve 2011 • One of the biggest gambling nights of the year • Ring of players called “The Cutters” used a small camera that rests on the tip of a finger to identify the cards while they are being cut

  4. Casino Vulnerabilities • Understaffing in the surveillance room • Understaffing on the casino floor • The player is allowed to cut the deck in Baccarat • The game tends to move at a slow place allowing time for a player to receive the images of the cards, study them, and enter the game

  5. How Were They Caught? • Macau officials warned casinos in Las Vegas about “The Cutters” • A group of players took more than $1 million • That same group has taken tens of millions internationally • Security questioned them • They were released without police charges due to a lack of evidence

  6. How to Prevent this in the Future? • Staff more than the normal 3-5 people to be working in surveillance • Train them to watch the games proactively • Hire more than one floor supervisor to watch the games • Watch closer on high limit games especially on high volume nights • Run a more thorough background check on employees to avoid collusion • Don’t allow players to cut the deck
