Vaccinations • Tetanus + Diphtheria 10yrs • Polio 10yrs • Yellow Fever 10yrs (for Africa) • Hepatitis A and B 15yrs • Typhoid 3yrs Measles lifelong Meningitis 3yrs Cholera 6 months Japanese B Encephalitis 1-3yrs Seasonal Human Influenza • Strongly recommended vaccinations for all countries Always keep a copy of vaccination records at home in case your vaccination card gets lost. Malaria • Check the current situation of the country • Prophylaxis: Doxycycline 100mg Lariam Malarone Costs reimbursed by the contracting part • Remember repellent and coils and other prophylaxis • Mosquito dome recommended, mosquito net second option • Medication for treatment and self-test important IFRC

Mental Wellbeing and Stress • Read: “Managing stress in the field” • Take care of your team – you are a member of it • What is your survival strategy? • We have two stress counselors in Geneva whom you can contact (CONFIDENTIAL) by email, skype or phone IFRC
Insurance and reimbursement • Know your insurance and assistance company • Vaccinations reimbursed by the contracting part: Federation or your NS (sometimes even by insurance) IFRC
Medical Evacuation Plan • Latest version on the file server and FedNet • Follow the SOP • Always keep your passport, visa and insurance card with you, or copies • Give the admin a copy of your passport and visa • If in doubt – send them out! IFRC
Consultants and PNS delegates • Own arrangements for medical clearance, vaccinations and insurance • Assistance given if asked • Cover their own costs IFRC
