In The Fullness Of Time
God Sent His Son • Jews & Gentiles were allowed to experience “spiritual hopelessness” • GentilesÙ emptiness of their human wisdom Rom 1:18-22, 25 • JewsÙ futility of justification through works Rom 3:19-20 Gal 3:10-11, 18, 21 • The right amount of time had to elapse for both
God Sent His Son Eventually God sent the Christ Gal 4:4-5 “Fullness of time” = that which fills up a thing; that which is full or completed” But why at this particular time? Some factors that could be considered… 1 universal government Dan 2:44 1 universal language
God Sent His Son Eventually God sent the Christ Gal 4:4-5 “Fullness of time” = that which fills up a thing; that which is full or completed” But why at this particular time? Some factors that could be considered… Jewish dispersion Rome’s moral rot & decay
God Answers Our Cries Most likely, the area where we are challenged the most (esp. when we suffer) We aren’t the first to ask, “How long…?” David Psa 6:1-3 Habakkuk Hab 1:2-4 The apostles Acts 1:6 The martyred saints Rev 6:9-11
God Answers Our Cries God’s answer… Hab 2:4 Isa 40:28-31 If no action NOW, some might think God doesn’t care or is busy with something else Sometimes man gets “antsy”…helps God out Abraham Gen 13:14-16 15:1-5 16:1-3 Ishmael made things seem “real” Gen 17:15-18 God still said “NO…it will be Isaac” Gen 17:19
Application Re: working for God Ù fruit must come “…in the fullness of time”Mk 4:26-29 We are like farmers who know crops grow… they just don’t how The gospel seed does have power Rom 1:16 We know God causes the growth 1 Cor 3:6 We must sow the seed…let it do its work
Application Re: praying to God Ù His answer comes “…in the fullness of time”2 Cor 12:8-10 Paul thought it best for the kingdom if his “thorn” was removed (and for him personally) Obviously, God had other ideas Paul had to learn it was best to “wait on the Lord”
Conclusion Remember…time means nothing to God 2 Pet 3:8 Time means everything to man If we patiently wait for God, we’ll see His way is right We must accept God’s decisions & stop trying to “run things” that are beyond & above us
Conclusion If we’ll turns things over to God (submit)… We’ll look back 1 day after life’s ups & downs and be able to say “God did it right!” Even if not in this life, 1 grand eternal day we’ll look back through faith & say “God did it right!” Who else is there to trust? Who else knows “The Fullness Of Time?”
