  3. Rule for Plurals: • 1. Most nouns form plurals by adding –s to the end • Example= room, rooms • 2. Nouns that end with “y” change the “y” to –ies • Example= cherry, cherries 3. Nouns that end with “vowel + y” end in “s” * Example= monkey, monkeys

  4. More with plurals • 4. Nouns that end with “fe” and “f” change the –ves • Examples= leaf, leaves and knife=knives *exception* words that end in “ff” as in “cliff” just add “s”- cliffs • 5. Add –es to words that end in “ch” , “sh”, “ss”, “x” or “z” • Example=arch, arches • Example=clash, clashes • Example=class, classes • Example=box, boxes • Example=quiz, quizzes

  5. You Try! Change the words below so they have a plural ending: Fox Shoe Porch Toy Company Cliff Wolf bookshelf • Foxes • Shoes • Porches • Toys • Companies • Cliffs • Wolves • bookshelves

  6. Activity Choice! • 1. Make a list of school supplies. Write them down in both singular AND plural form. (15 items). • 2. Write a paragraph on your morning routine. Using a highlighter, mark all the plural words in each sentences. You must use at least TEN. • 3. (Challenge!) Can you think of TEN words that end in “s” that are NOT already plural? Change them to their correct plural ending.
