  2. About Anarde Foundation ACIL - Navasarjan Rural Development Foundation ie. ANaRDe Foundation was Established in 1979. Mission: Total Development of rural villages of India through Income Generating Programmes Activities Economic Development Educational Health Tree Plantation Social & Cultural

  3. Association with DREC Project • No previous experience in energy issues • State Partner in DREC Project • Attended State Training Workshop • Conducted Baseline Consumer survey • Successful implementation of CIM’s • Conducted Focused Group Discussion • Conducted Final Consumer Survey

Initiatives of Anarde Foundation • Focus Group Discussion with SHGs • Regular Meetings – 40 villages, more than 500 women • Meeting with Farmers for Solar Pump – Narmada Water Irrigation Committees • Expert interaction • Meetings in 50 villages – more than 1000 farmers • Solar lantern distribution through SEWA • 500-600 HH • Biogas Promotion • 15 installed in 10 villages

Issues from the field- Solar Streetlights • Solar Streetlights Adoption by Panchayats • Developed villages • Government scheme • Issues around solar streetlights • 20-25 villages have installed Solar Streetlights but functional only in 10-15 villages • Negligence of Panchayat for proper care • Lack of understanding about technical requirements • Lack of Maintenance Service

  7. Issues from the field- Solar Pump Sets • Scope for solar pump • Canal water lifting • Replacement of diesel engine • Farmers’ expectation for Solar Pump use • Field Demonstration • Reliable Accessibility • Reasonable Price • Maintenance Service

  8. Issues from the field -Biogas • Adoption of biogas • Rural households having animals • Middle income group – supplementary use of LPG • Accessibility, cost and low risk • Issues related to biogas • Inconvenience • Mobility • Space • Affordable Price (without subsidy)

  9. Way Forward • More intensive awareness generation • Field demonstration • Easy accessibility • Subsidy • Easy and low interest finance (like crop loan) • Accreditation of equipment • After sale and maintenance service
