Crime statistics : organisation • Network of contact points in countries • Nominated by Directors of Social Statistics, but may be from statistical offices or other government organisations • One contact point per country • Task force 31 May – 1 June 2005 • Next task force 2-3 March 2006
Conclusions of Eurostat task force 2005 • Reported crime – collect data from countries and assess comparability • Organised crime – develop definitions and methodology • Victimisation surveys – work towards comparable data
Steps towards comparable European data on victimisation • Analyse results of UNECE-UNODC questionnaire • Identify common topics and experiences • Propose a set of common variables and questions • Propose strategy for common survey or module • Pilot testing in Member States
